Yes, at least according to the standard medical definition of sobriety, a common view shared by popular recovery programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous. Alcoholics and addicts have a hard time being honest with themselves.

sobriety

means that you are free of addictions.

You can manage the feelings that arise while you don't use alcohol, and it may even be helpful. Sobriety is the condition of not having measurable levels or effects of alcohol or drugs. Sobriety is also considered the natural state of a human being at birth. A person in a state of sobriety is considered sober.

The organizations of the temperance movement have promoted sobriety as something normative in society. Sobriety means not being under the influence of a substance. However, the word is often used in different ways in different contexts. Many 12-step programs suggest that sobriety means total abstinence and never using the substance again.

For most people, the word “sober” means anyone who isn't intoxicated. However, in recovery, sobriety has a much fuller definition. Sobriety is not just about abstaining from drugs and alcohol. It's about moving towards complete physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health.

Sobriety, or being sober, can be defined as the state of not being intoxicated. In the fields of addiction and mental health treatment, sobriety generally refers to a person's decision to maintain abstinence from substance use. Sobriety often, but not always, follows a period of problematic use or addiction. Sober is used in terms of when someone has been drinking alcohol.

It does not necessarily mean that the person who has been drinking has an alcohol addiction, it simply means that the person's mental state is clear now because the effect of alcohol has disappeared or because the person has not drunk anything.
